Team Megafire launched a California practice in September 2025. In February 2026, The Joint Megafire Prevention Package was unveiled and includes more than a dozen bills advancing home hardening, resilience financing, expansion of fire mitigation programs, and increased use of beneficial fire. Led by Senators Ben Allen, Josh Becker, and Henry Stern, alongside Assemblymembers Dawn Addis Bennett, Jim Connolly, and Chris Rogers, it represents the most comprehensive legislative effort to mitigate destructive megafires in California’s history.
