The Wildfire Intelligence Center: Transforming Our Approach to Wildfires

The current approach to wildfire management is hampered by fragmented technological services and inadequate data, leading to ineffective funding use and a failure to properly utilize "good fire" to prevent catastrophic megafires. To address this crisis, the creation of a centralized federal Wildfire Intelligence Center is proposed to leverage cutting-edge technology and provide unified decision support across all jurisdictions.

This center, potentially housed within the USGS or NOAA, would provide real-time intelligence throughout the entire wildfire lifecycle without infringing on local decision-making authority.
