The Administration has proposed unifying federal wildland fire management within the Department of the Interior (DOI) to improve efficiency, coordination, and technology adoption.
This suggestion aims to move the U.S. Forest Service (FS) from the Department of Agriculture (USDA) to the DOI, consolidating wildfire personnel, assets, policy, and appropriations.
